Re: dursley restoration

Clear photos are essential to help show what you have - and the condition. Include close-ups of any head badge. And of the frame number, under bottom bracket, if visible. Does it have an original Pedersen geared hub? More photos! What is your location? If you were near Cordoba or Seville, I'd be hap...

Re: First Cheltenham Pedersen of the month?

This looks to me as if you do have the first Cheltenham Pedersen - but this needs to be explained in a bit more detail! The earliest 'Cheltenham' frames were in fact imported from Jesper in Copenhagen and built-up and sold as Cheltenham Pedersens. Later, Chris Margenout's Individual Bicycles Company...

Re: what would the value be

The number 4 under the frame number indicates the frame size (small). As for value, I couldn't really say - although these days, the perfect test of value is to list on eBay, and let the market decide! Is the gear a 3-speed?

Where is the bike located? Good luck.

This Tate Gallery link shows a five seat Pedersen built by Turner Prize winning artist Simon Starling:

Re: 6 seat Dursley

Welcome to the forum - all six of you! My guess on this is that making a 5, 6, or 7 seater Pedersen would be stronger than any similar 'normal' or diamond framed machine because of Mikael Pedersen's unique design. But a significant limiting factor would probably be other equipment - especially the w...

Re: My Dursley Pedersen

Welcome to the forum.

My guess is that this pedersen is dated between 1899 and 1905. The 1 inch pitch chain is probably a feature of only the earlier models. Do you think this Pedersen had brakes at one time?

I hope you get some more information from cycle historians.

Re: Front Brake linkage

A very nice design, and not dangerous to attempt repairs. One of my cables frayed and broke inside the handlebars. Here is a photo of the parts. The cables had pear shaped nipples at the brake levers, and a crimped copper ferrule at the other. It was easier to reverse the old spare cable I used (nip...
