1903 Dursley Pedersen

Postby GerritKan » Sat Sep 29, 2012 5:23 pm

Hello .

I have bought my Dursley Pedersen at the weekend of the NAV-CC in Fishbourn near Chischester this year .
There was a sale , mine is a barn find and the person who found it had it for many years .
It is a size 6 , frame and front fork number 1096 and in de Pedersen gear hub is the number 100 , the color is a kind of olive drab green .
The cranks are very long , from center pedal hole to center crank hole 20 cm . Front sprocket 48 theet and rear 16 .

Afther cleaning i found out that there is enough paint and I keep the bike in this condition , only new ball bearings , brake rubbers , new ( old ) rims , and spokes the originals are too rusty to use .
I have new double butted spokes , I will make them look older .

Now I have a question about the breake levers .
My bicycle have on the left hand side a brake lever with the cable through the handlebar.
On the right hand side there is a lever with a cable on the out side and the lever is bolted through the handlebar.
I have seen that at some pictures at more Pedersens , is that original ??????

The vcc have a book about pedersen and a small one about the gears are there any other good books fore sale in English ?

Kind regards Gerrit Kan

Beautiful. I think you are doing the right thing by not repainting. Make any changes you need to make it mechanically perfect again, but keep the nice old paintwork.

Pity about the right brake lever. I dismantled my brakes when one cable broke inside the handlebars. The photo below shows how the brakes are assembled. Maybe you can make a replacement lever - I'm sure originals will be hard to find!
